The purpose of your role as a Director, Customer Accounting

As a Director, Customer Accounting, you will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the company's cash flow, investments, and minimize financial risk for the company. As a key member of the Accounting team, this position is the main accounting contact that leads the billing, collections, cash application, and tax teams. Lead the cost accounting team companywide.
  • Hire, train, monitor, motivate, develop, mentor, provide growth and development opportunities, and evaluate Accounts Receivable and tax staff across all offices within Harris.
  • Provide leadership and drive best practices supporting billing, cash application, credit, and tax teams.
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounts receivable functions, assigning work across the team, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, ensuring they are complete, accurate, on time, and in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Create tax strategy and centralization of tax, census and other company filing requirements to ensure accuracy and timely filings.
  • Proactively monitor AR Aging and collaborate with businesses on collection efforts across Harris.
  • Collaborate with key personnel in accounting, finance and other departments to create cash forecasts.
  • Provide timely customer support to business for proposals.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional analysis and projects, partnering with accounting and business teams to understand and work through initiatives, understand the impact to accounting and the business, streamline processes, ensure proper financial and business process and internal controls exist.
  • Design and implement treasury management process and systems to continuously improve procedures and controls surrounding cash movement, bank fee monitoring, remittance processing, borrowing and other related activities.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit, preparing accurate audit support schedules, reports and deliverables in a timely manner

What we're looking for in you
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related, or equivalent years of experience
  • 8+ years of proven experience in as an accounting/finance leader
  • 8+ years of established record of process improvement methodologies which result in organizational efficiencies.
  • 8+ years of proven ability to lead, coach and mentor a team
  • Familiarity with merchant payment processing and systems
  • Advanced computer skills in Excel (VLOOKUP's and pivot tables)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Banking process and systems including cash management principles
  • Understanding of forecasting, budgeting and reporting method and practices
