SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Director, Financial Planning & Analysis leads the financial analysis and reporting activities for Amtraks consolidated capital portfolio. This position will partner with each department capital financial managers to understand and report capital results to senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders in order to help execute Amtraks financial goals.

This position is expected to serve as a positive role model and to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to Amtraks departments and an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. Above all, the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis must fulfill the needs of Amtrak in a manner which is consistent with the Amtraks core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Own, lead and improve all consolidated capital reporting processes and deliverables, including budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, reporting, monthly close support, variance analysis, presentations, etc.
  • Lead the development and management of Amtraks capital annual plan, 5-year plan and monthly forecasts
  • Create processes to help improve forecasting, support decision making and drive strategic initiatives
  • Lead development and deliver regular and timely reporting, financial analysis, insight and commentary to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop KPIs and methodologies for tracking performance
  • Act as liaison between business support finance functions and Finance leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • 11years of progressively increasing relevant FP&A experience and responsibilities or equivalent combination of relevant work experience, and education/training
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Ability to clearly communicate high level financial information and present at the executive level
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Ability to create and maintain excellent working relationships with senior level business partners
  • Ability to lead and work in a high production environment with frequently changing priorities and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and enterprise financial planning systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • 13 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with financial management of large capital portfolios
  • Transportation industry experience

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
