Overview

The Sr. Director of Finance/Assistant Controller supports the Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controller in all accounting-related activities related to the Corporate entity, including financial reporting, accounting policy, financial governance, financial diligence and integration activities of new SCA investments and other high-level accounting and finance activities within a company. This professional plays a vital role in maintaining the accountability of a company's financial resources and protecting Company assets.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the Company's consolidated financial reporting deliverables and monthly close process, including ownership of key financial IT systems
  • Reviewing financial data monthly and consulting with the Corporate Controller and Finance team to identify trends and assess the financial impact of significant transactions and key accounting estimates
  • Leadership of SCA's Accounting Policy team including serving as technical resources for complex accounting judgments/ estimates as well as establishing/ maintaining SCA accounting policies
  • Oversight of the team responsible for monitoring, researching and interpreting new U.S. GAAP pronouncements/SEC reporting requirements and assessing and documenting the impact on SCA's financial statements and accounting policies
  • Oversight of the Accounting Diligence and Integrations teams responsible for Accounting due diligence on potential investments and acquisitions as well as integration of new acquisitions into SCA's standard accounting processes, policies and key financial systems
  • Partner with Development, Operations and Legal teams on acquisition deal structure considerations and communicating accounting/financial implications
  • Strategic partners with Financial Operations teams in the structuring and forecasting of financial transactions to appropriately advice SCA Executives with accurate financial data
  • Support all Accounting departments in Sarbanes Oxley 404 compliance and work closely with the parent company and partnership external auditors on the coordination of audits and quarterly reviews
  • Ensuring adherence to SCA Corporate financial policies including in-house standards and best practices
  • Manage, train and develop multiple teams of high performing, experienced finance professionals


Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Active CPA strongly preferred
  • A minimum 10 years of relevant public accounting and/or industry accounting experience required
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in leading and developing teams required
  • Healthcare experience is preferred


Skills and Abilities:
  • Technical knowledge of and experience in applying U.S. GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to interact with all levels of management and facility personnel
  • Ability to work across functions in team environment, specifically Development, Operations, Finance, SCA C-Suite executives and other Accounting departments to meet corporate objectives
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills
  • Candidate should possess the ability to work in a changing, fast paced environment while displaying strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently, with acute attention to details and deadlines.
