The Human Sexuality PhD Program (HSX) has experienced rapid growth over the past few years and is searching for a 100% core faculty candidate to complement its interdisciplinary and intersectional focus on critical sexuality studies. The Human Sexuality PhD Program is one of two accredited doctoral programs in sexuality in the US. CIIS is an institutional provider of American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) continuing education (CE) courses leading to AASECT professional certification.

The HSX doctoral program is a critical sexuality studies program drawing on sexuality and gender studies, critical race studies (including Queer of Color Critique), social science fields (anthropology, sociology, psychology, economics, political science), public health, reproductive biology, critical education studies, feminist/women's studies, humanities, and public policy studies (including reproductive justice work) to foster critical content knowledge, research, and analysis skills that support doctoral works delving into important social science questions and applied work with a social justice emphasis.

The HSX doctoral program is a hybrid program that includes two years of coursework, followed by comprehensive exams, and dissertation research and writing. We do not offer summer courses and we accept students in Fall semesters only following a cohort model. The first two years of coursework are completed in an online hybrid format meaning that students travel to CIIS' campus in San Francisco for three long weekends each semester of intensive class time, while the balance of the semester's course work is completed asynchronously online using CANVAS (online learning system). More information about the program may be found here: www.ciis.edu/hsx.
