Amgen is seeking a Continuous Improvement Business Performance Senior Manager at our corporate campus located in Thousand Oaks, California or in Juncos, Puerto Rico.

The Senior Manager will lead, facilitate, and provide focused support to enable, drive, and deliver strategic objectives and business results through Amgen Transformation, Continuous Improvement (CI) (Lean, 6-Sigma, Human Performance, Business Reliability), Agile Scrum, and other Operational Excellence / problem solving methodologies. This person will draw insights from a range of information sources to improve product and process flows. This Senior Manager will develop approaches to improve productivity and implement comprehensive change strategies to transform the organization and enable it to adapt to business challenges. Keys to success will be the ability to work cross-functionally within Amgen and externally with critical business partners for intelligence gathering, reporting requirements, real-time data analysis and development of performance mechanisms.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate expertise in the application of Amgen's Transformation and/or CI methodologies by leading, mentorship, and supporting others in the utilization of our methodologies and tools
  • Act as a strategic thought partner in the selection, design, and application of the appropriate tools and methodologies to achieve the desired business outcomes
  • Craft and deploy analytics-derived solutions to gain insights, drive efficiency and resolve challenges
  • Act as an intermediary between IS and business to align capabilities, process and information
  • Utilize expertise and research to assess impact and define scalable solutions across the network
  • Support and facilitate idea generation in functions to ensure a pipeline of ongoing projects and pending ideas to align with short and long-term targets
  • Supervise and report project status as the need arises
  • Partner with internal resources to develop dashboards (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire, Smartsheet) for reporting with drill-down capabilities
  • Domestic and International travel average up to 20%


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

OR

Associate's degree and 8 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in Lean, Six Sigma, and other Operational Excellence methodologies
  • 5 plus years of demosntrated ability in Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical industry
  • 5+ years of cross-functional consulting, project management, and/or Liaison experience
  • Experience with data diagnostics, discovery, modeling and visualization
  • Experience creating and collaborating in SharePoint, Box, Yammer, Teams, Tableau, Smartsheet, etc.
  • Experience working with sophisticated projects or processes in a matrix organization and can utilize organizational change to get results
  • Strong presence with Senior Executives
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to story line and prepare executive-level discussion documents
  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills with the ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage solutions
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
  • Strong leadership skills able to influence different styles
  • Experience as a member of a robust team
