Director - Production & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

Job Description

As the Executive Director of Production Management passion around technology will inspire a team of creative problem solvers to find new ways to manage and support our day-to-day business needs through the enablement of Site Reliability Engineering disciplines across software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and reducing work through automation. As the Executive Director with an SRE focus, you and your team will be dedicated to running better production applications and systems to service Core Banking Technology which is the foundation our customers bank on providing scalable, stable and secure core banking and customer information functions to all.
The Executive Director of production Management will build relationships and work with the business and IT leadership to understand current and develop new strategies and implications on applications and operations. Utilize experience with budgetary forecasting, Global resource teams, client and vendor management, risk and vulnerability management, disaster recovery planning and developer/code efficiency concepts. Provide input, influence decisions, and drive change across technology, not limited by organizational lines or to activities within their own department.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and execution of transforming the current production environment and moving aggressively to target state encompassing greater efficiency, stability and effectiveness, as well as the identification of improvement opportunities
• Serve as an escalation point to drive resolution of priority incidents through facilitating blameless post-mortems, driving for a higher accuracy and accountability in a product, application or service objective
• Manage development teams throughout the life cycle to help develop software for reliability and scale, ensuring minimal refactoring or changes including automation efforts to reduce or eliminate manual effort in the deployment
• Be a key contributor to building the production organization and transforming the environment from a distributed, LOB aligned function to a consolidated CCB function
• Attract, manage, retain and develop a high performing inclusive and diverse team of approximately 20+ resources
• Own the overall customer experience and sustainability of a product and application as a Hands on manager, who can drive change, influence and lead across business and technology. Significant experience managing an end to end technology environment, including experience with software, hardware, desktop, utilities, and other infrastructure components. Proven experience delivering strategic IT programs, preferably in a DevOps, Cloud and Agile delivery environments.

 


  • Expertise in multiple technology stacks with designing, coding, testing, delivering software

  • Proven leadership in performance monitoring and capacity management of large systems using various tools

  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) philosophy, Chaos Engineering, technologies, platforms and tools, SLA management, incident resolution, and automation

  • Hands on experience on managing operations of large-scale internet-centric production environments for application or infrastructure services

  • 10+ years of software engineer experience and/or site reliability engineering in one of the following languages: C, C++, Java J2EE technology stack and web technologies /, Python, Go, Perl, Ruby or shell scripting (Unix/Linux) – okay to have mainframe/cobol

  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based technologies and tools is a plus, especially in deployment, monitoring and operations, such as Kubernetes

  • Continuous Integration – participation in Agile teams to enable swift and secure continuous integration that is Production ready

  • Identifying and partnering with Infrastructure teams and AD teams to implement automation opportunities to drive down toil and reduce technical debt

  • Resiliency – Engineer modern deployment methods and drive remediation of resiliency gaps, partner with Application Development to drive resolution, and own the acceptance of the result.

  • Delivery –participate in architectural design reviews to ensure Production considerations and non-functional requirements are understood included in stories and definition of done.

  • Experience in working with cross line of business teams, Outside Service Providers and Partner Organizations.

  • Strong understanding of automation tooling such as: Jira, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible

  • Senior Application Development and/or Production Support experience

  • Ability to influence and drive change at senior levels

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to manage in a high pace environment and drive for continuous improvement
