Security Engineer Lead

Job Description

As Security Engineer Lead, you will provide day-to-day technical leadership, decision making and problem solving for the CCB Digital’s Perimeter Security Engineering area product group. Working closely with the Product Owner, you will serve as the senior technical resource for an infrastructure team that engineers, implements and manages the network perimeter security controls that protect all Digital applications, including security solutions owned and supported by Digital (such as the Shape Security automated transaction control), as well as services provided by GTI and CTC (such as PSaaS, Arbor DDoS protection, etc.). Your subject matter expertise on network security, web application defense and cyber will help your team defend the firm from a daily onslaught of attacks against our web and mobile channels.


As an experienced Infrastructure Engineering professional, you'll be making decisions of a global and strategic nature that impact our customers, clients, and businesses around the globe. Your expertise in analyzing complex data systems, anticipating problems, and finding ways to mitigate risk, will be key in leading a high performing team to successfully design and navigate the program roadmap. By incorporating your knowledge of business drivers, you will affect change and lead development of innovative improvements and world-class practices. Your team will be responsible for driving results, and implementing multiple, complex programs that span the breadth of the business, and they’ll look to you to provide the technical leadership to move them forward. And while you will be part of a tight-knit team that shares your passion for technology, you’ll also gain access the best minds in the business—both as part of the JPMorgan Chase & Co. global technology community, and through our partnerships with some of the most important tech firms in the world.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Subject matter expertise on Web/HTTP security risks and technical mitigations
  • Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices, including OWASP Automated Threat category and familiarity with OWASP Top Ten
  • Solid “under the hood” understanding of HTTP protocols, response codes, modern usage (including API concepts), and web scripting/automation tools
  • Significant experience with large-scale/high-volume eCommerce infrastructure and/or consumer mobile applications and associated threats
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and report on cyber security threats within web and mobile channels
  • Strong grasp of modern network infrastructure fundamentals: TCP, HTTP, TLS, DNS, Global Load Balancing, etc.
  • Solid working knowledge of IT Security with a minimum of 5 years’ hands-on Cyber engineering experience highly desired (government, military or private industry)
  • Basic understanding of the company's business practices and familiarity with the company's products and services; Financial services experience a plus
  • Strong deductive reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills and strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work in large, globally distributed teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Team lead or other people management experience a plus
  • Industry recognized security certifications, such as CISSP, SANS Web Defender, GPPA/GCED/GWEB, etc. preferred
  • BS/BA degree in a technical IT Security-related discipline, and/or an equivalent combination of applicable training and experience
