As part of the Amgen's Manufacturing Operations organization, our Amgen Woburn Manufacturing (AWM) site manufactures oncolytic virus based end-to-end drug substance and drug products for the global market. As such we continuously strive to be a leader in detailed execution to ensure we deliver our medicines to every patient, every time. This role of Business Performance Sr. Manager for AWM reports directly to the AWM Site Head and is a member of the site leadership team. This individual will consistently work with leadership across multiple functions and be involved in discussions regarding current and future manufacturing and business challenges, decisions and pressing topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of AWM Manufacturing business performance with responsibility to design and facilitate processes intended to advance strategy and objectives within Manufacturing
  • Use data and analytics to inform business decisions and summarizes information into key findings for site leadership
  • Provide leadership to key initiatives and strategic projects across Manufacturing, including proactively identifying and removing roadblocks, driving program management, content creation, and presentation
  • Drive the evolution of the Manufacturing strategic plan, and timely execution of turning points
  • Build and lead efficient approach to govern productivity projects and communicate their target achievement aligned across manufacturing sites
  • Responsible for presentation creation from conceptualization to finalization for business meetings and functional strategic reviews
  • Continuously monitor and communicate progress and adherence to critical initiative and goal timelines
  • Partner with Site Leads to align results, represent metrics and alignment on value creation
  • Ensure on time delivery of any action items and commitments (e.g. benchmarking from external organization) and monthly communications/reports such as content for dashboards
  • Responsible for bi-weekly site leadership meetings. This includes coordinating agenda topics, consolidating presentation and pre-read content, distributing pre-reads, facilitating each meeting, and crafting/distributing minutes and follow up on action items
  • Responsible for content for All-Staff meetings
  • Partner with Finance lead to educate on and translate functional priorities and business details related to financials. Partner on data and visualization appropriate for audience
  • May serve as a single point of contact for pivotal initiatives and projects
  • Develops and implements metrics to record and lead successful, timely accomplishment of assigned goals, objectives and projects
  • Delivers strong results consistent with compliance requirements and Amgen values
  • Executes with a sense of purpose and drives course correction
  • Foster and preserve relationships with key site and network partners
  • Maintain the Business Performance Operational Excellence program and its performance
  • Develop short/long term strategies, goals, objectives, and associated budgets required to ensure appropriate Business Performance and site implementation


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Strategy, Business Development or Operations experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Strategy, Business Development or Operations experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Strategy, Business Development or Operations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Engineering or Science experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering or Science experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience partnering with and influencing executive leadership
  • Excellent communication skills and executive presence, including ability to storyline and prepare executive-level presentations and pre-reads
  • Adapting and thriving in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership with a demonstrated talent to influence different functions and levels of the organization
  • Independent, motivated and proactive team member with experience in a matrixed, highly fluid environment
  • Ability to foster collaboration, work productively on cross-functional teams and consistently deliver on-time while serving as a role model for Amgen values and leadership attributes
  • Ability to assemble disparate information and develop into executive ready materials
  • Direct experience in a cross-functional business operations or strategic project management
  • Deep understanding of all Manufacturing functions and Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with partners and supporting functions (e.g. Human Resources, Finance)
  • Amgen financial acumen and ability to interpret and communicate financial information
  • Models good decision-making behaviors and reinforces proper decision making and meeting management according to DAI (Decision-maker Advice-giver Informed-stakeholder) framework
  • Able to excel in a multi-layered organization, and possess critical thinking and sound project / problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership experience and aptitude with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a sophisticated, matrix environment
  • Proven experience and track record of compliance in a highly regulated GMP environment
  • Diverse operations experience preferably in the manufacture of biologics with aseptic processing, drug substance and/or drug products focus
  • Operational Excellence approach with diverse, and profound Continuous Improvement methodology experience (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM), etc.)
