As a Financial Market Infrastructure Risk (FMIR) manager in Network Management, the candidate will be responsible for the assessment and monitoring of qualitative membership risks arising from Firm’s direct memberships of Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs): Central Securities Depositories (CSDs) and Payment Systems.



  • Manage a complex and diverse global, cross-regional portfolio of Payment Systems and CSDs
  • Define and develop the risk assessment criteria, templates and methodology for conducting FMI membership risk assessments
  • Define and implement on-going monitoring and governance requirements for FMI membership risks
  • Perform annual membership risk assessments of direct FMI memberships, identifying and reporting key risks and exposures to J.P. Morgan Line of Business (LOB) owners and stakeholders, and other key cross-functional partners
  • Represent FMIR in Applicability Assessments (AAs) and new business initiatives (NBIA), to evaluate and identify risks associated with new / prospective FMI memberships
  • Participate in and contribute to Network Management, Risk and LOB governance committees and forums related to FMIs; Payment System and CSD Governance Forums, FMI Risk Reviews, Network Steering Committee, etc.
  • Own and maintain FMIR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide global, cross-function / LOB risk and governance advice and guidance on FMI and Payment, Clearing and Settlement (PCS) related activities and initiatives
  • Present key membership risk updates to senior management
  • Work with Network Management, LOB and other cross-functional partners to ensure J.P. Morgan's compliance with FMI-related regulatory guidance and obligations, such as OCC Banking Circulars and Interpretive Letters
  • Prepare and deliver FMI Risk training
  • Work closely with LOB Product Management, Risk, and other key functional partners to identify and mitigate risks arising from FMI memberships
  • Work on special projects and initiatives as required (e.g. regulatory requests / examinations, Resolution & Recovery planning, etc.)



  • Financial services background, with at least 5 years relevant experience in the industry
  • Familiarity with J.P. Morgan LOBs and activities, securities and payments related clearing and settlement practices, and international banking concepts
  • Experience in interacting with cross-functional and regional partners, and senior management across the organization
  • Analytical skills; ability to understand risks and their drivers; ability to analyze, interpret and articulate risk outcomes and opinions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables in a dynamic and evolving environment
  • Effective project management skills, ability to contribute to enhancements in processes, controls, and systems
  • Time management, problem solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; strong influencing skills
  • Ability to develop partnerships and work with different teams interacting across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to make informed, balanced decisions and effectively represent FMIR, Network Management and the Firm
