  • This job is a member of the Customer Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.\
  • Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work

What you'll do

Collaborates with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, technical leads and other developers, along with internal customers, to understand requirements and develop needs according to business requirements so that application teams interested in switching to Sabre Web Services (SWS) can provision, configure, test, debug and implement them.

  • Maintains and enhances Service Catalogs, validates Service Usage using SoapUI, diagnoses and fix errors, create and track defects through to resolution
  • Utilize Splunk and other dashboard tools to monitor services for errors and Sabre Dev Studio for updates
  • Monitor SWS performance trends, analyze data and compile performance trends
  • Function as a conduit between Sabre and application teams to build applications utilizing Sabre’s Web Services that are exposed via IBM DataPower Gateways or via Apigee Edge
  • Maintains and enhances existing enterprise services, applications, documentation, and platforms using domain driven design and test-driven development
  • Troubleshoots and debugs complex issues; identifies and implements solutions
  • Creates detailed project specifications, requirements, and estimates
  • Researches and implements new technologies to enhance current processes, security, and performance
  • Supports the development of coding standards and adheres to best practices and security guidelines
  • Works closely with software architects and technical leads to ensure decisions meet long-term enterprise growth
  • Provides on-call production support (24 x 7 x 365), as required

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 2 years total development experience
  • 1-year web application or services experience
  • 1-year Cloud based experience utilizing Apigee, IBM Bluemix, MS Azure

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 2+ years of total development experience
  • 2+ years of web application experience
  • 2+ years of cloud-based experience
  • Airline Industry knowledge and/or experience
  • Native Sabre (PSS) knowledge and/or experience a definite plus

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of object oriented programming, common data structures and algorithms, design patterns and best practices
  • Basic to intermediate development skills with C#, XML, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, GIT, JQuery, Angular, SOAP/REST and other web development technologies
  • Experience with Visual Studio and Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) or GitHUB
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL Server, Oracle)
  • Ability to scrutinize applications and services to ensure they adhere to security standards
  • Networking knowledge (Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP) 
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of TDD and automated testing
  • Knowledge of PCI Compliance / OWASP standards
  • Knowledge of diagnostics tools (SOAPUI, Fiddler, IE Inspector, HTTP Analyzer, Dynatrace)
