Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Specifications Writer to be based out of our New York Metro office. The selected individual will be responsible for researching and recommending product solutions and have a good working knowledge of construction materials and techniques. Effective communication to both senior staff and clients is essential to this role.
The Senior Specifications Writer will be responsible for the following items:
Leads the specifications writing and management for multiple projects and offices for transportation, commercial and federal projects
The applicant will need to demonstrate the ability to review CADD and PDF files for system design analysis and office quality control standards
The applicant must have knowledge of LEED and be aware of other sustainability measurement methods
The applicant should have experience in supervising a group of up to five specification writers
The applicant must be a team player and be able to supervise and assist staff in the preparation of contract documents
The applicant must be able to assist other disciplines in formatting and assembling contract specifications
The applicant will need to demonstrate good working skills, the ability to interact with the teams in multiple offices
May include all engineering disciplines over time
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments
Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of architecture
Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field
Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience
Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent plus eight (8) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate to have a degree in architectural science or equivalent
9 years of experience in specification writing
Must have good working knowledge of building science
Must have a good working knowledge of recent contract law as it applies to construction
Must have knowledge of specification formats Masterformat, Uniformat and narrative approaches
Must have adequate computer skills in MS office software
LEED AP Certified
Proven experience with Federal, State and any local agency template specifications.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000
