Purpose of Position

Under supervision, assists with the design, coding, testing, and support of internally developed application software. Participates in business process analysis, data architecture design, security testing, and product evaluations.

 

Essential Functions

Assists with application design. Works with clients and participates in the collection, analysis, and documentation of business requirements; identifies potential problem areas and under advisement recommends possible solutions to problems.

Assists with application coding, testing, implementation, and support. May work with a team lead on a major project or may work alone on smaller, less complex projects.

Assists in resolving customer problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements. Works with both non-technical and technical staff to understand problems with software and resolve them.

Assists with product evaluations. Reviews product specifications and assists in determining product enhancements and modifications required.

Provides routine end user training on application software and end user documentation.

Other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to work with business users to analyze business problems /processes.

Knowledge of common web software security vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.

Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into web applications using OOP principles.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a directly related field and 3 years of related work experience. One additional year of college (30 semester hours) may be substituted for one year of the required experience on a year-for-year basis, allowing up to a maximum of 2 years substituted experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Use of Microsoft stack technologies: .NET, C#, MS SQL, Visual Studio.

Familiarity with Bootstrap, jjquery, or other front-end frameworks.

 

Working Conditions

Uses standard office equipment.

Requires occasional evening or weekend hours.

 

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
