  • Represent the Shop & Buy product team in a variety of forums and be comfortable speaking to both technical and business topics
  • Build analysis to understand the value of initiatives and advocate for the prioritization of efforts that drive Shop & Buy product Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) 
  • Recommend strategic directives to drive delivery efficiencies and support business outcomes
  • Collaborate with internal partners including stakeholders, IT, UX, and Analytics to understand customer behavior and create frictionless customer experiences that drive outcomes
  • Promote booking strategies and features to drive goals and objectives while ensuring experiences align with product vision and considering the holistic customer experience
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking to research new technologies, identify gaps, and discover opportunities to enhance the customer experience
  • Negotiate with commercial stakeholders and gain alignment on benefits of resolving technical debt system enhancements and other technology-driven initiatives
  • Focus on outcomes—identifying key metrics and continuously measuring and iterating to improve the product
  • Manage the development and implementation of new features and tools—this includes taking part in Agile ceremonies:  grooming, iteration planning, stand-ups and using Agile product management tools
  • Translate business objectives into technical specifications by creating a backlog of clearly written and well-defined user stories
  • Manage product backlog to ensure teams are focused on the highest impact efforts to achieve defined objectives and key results
  • Operate within the DevOps model, helping troubleshoot technical issues and prioritizing defect fixes and small enhancements among larger feature efforts
  • Partner closely with IT architects and technical leads to develop solutions that deliver customer value quickly while reducing ongoing operational costs 
  • Keep stakeholders informed and communicate outcomes, learnings, and changes as efforts progress
  • Lead ongoing demonstrations of new software to update stakeholders and team members on new features and functionality

     

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience/training
  • Understanding of how American’s systems interact with each other (i.e. Sabre, ITA, T&R, etc.)    
  • 3 years relevant work experience, preferably in e-commerce 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • MBA or master’s degree in related field 
  • Experience in Agile methodology and delivery transformation
  • Travel/airline experience 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of back-end technical systems powering digital platforms and how they can contribute to product strategy and OKRs 
  •  High level of intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity
  •  Well organized, able to multi task and prioritize with minimal direction and competing deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills that create an environment of trust and encourage partnerships within the team and across the organization
  • Ability to effectively analyze, and concisely present findings and strategies to senior leadership
  • Ability to quickly absorb technical concepts and communicate them to a non-technical audience
