Overview

Utilizing independent judgment, the Assistant General Manager / Director of Operations assists the General Manager in managing, supervising and coordinating all day-to-day operations of the venue, including engineering, maintenance, set-up/changeovers, custodial/housekeeping, and grounds keeping. The AGM / DOO assists in providing overall planning, direction, and policies to staff, ensuring the highest quality service program to ensure a positive guest experience and booking/rebooking of events. This role ensures an effective and cost-efficient program by controlling departmental operating budget as well as providing highly responsible staff assistance and management to the General Manager, and assists and provides leadership in physical labor for event set up and venue repairs and maintenance. The AGM / DOO works with Director of Events for event execution, and assists in implementation and operations of food and beverage department.

This position is based at The Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center. Only 40 minutes from the intersection of I-40 and I-35, the crossroads of America, the Expo Center sits on 52 acres of fairgrounds with an outdoor arena seating 7,500 and a 19,200 sq. ft. indoor arena seating 1,000. The Expo also offers 152,400 square feet of exhibit space. You'll find an RV park with 366 50-amp full hook ups and four comfort stations containing showers, washers, dryers and restrooms. We also have 133 additional 50-amp spaces and 296 additional 30-amp spaces with water and electric only. We'll work for you to show cattle, sell livestock, build a banquet, promote a product, judge a grand champion or find a new rodeo star. Responsibilities

  • Oversees overall daily operation and maintenance of the venue buildings, grounds and all systems. This includes HVAC, sound, lighting, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, highway signs, etc.
  • Direct daily interaction with client, venue staff and key stakeholders.
  • Direct interaction & communication with Director of Events, the main point of contact for event promoters, for event layouts, set ups, staffing needs and overall event execution.
  • Oversees the advancing and communicating event information to the appropriate departments and staff.
  • Oversees custodial management for the facility.
  • Negotiates and administers labor group contracts (Stagehands/Trades).
  • Oversees and assists the operation of event set-up and tear-down, i.e. field, special events, concerts, meetings, and misc. events.
  • Administers and negotiates contracts with outside vendors including pest control, HVAC, electrical, sound systems, seasonal landscaping and snow removal.
  • Acts as liaison with City Services for numerous facility related functions (City Codes, Parking, Licenses, permits, landscaping etc.).
  • Oversee field maintenance, operations, and all related areas.
  • Heavily involved with accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist in developing and managing facility budgets.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety compliance.
  • Development and maintain operational manuals and logs (overall operation manual, repairs and maintenance schedules, inventory/asset control logs).



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Technical degree from an accredited college/university/school required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in facility management.
  • Must show demonstrated knowledge of facility management.
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical, grounds keeping are helpful
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) endorsement on driver's license.
