General Description:
Niagara County Community College is searching for a full-time, twelve-month Academic Coach. This position will is within the Student Services division of the college and will report to the Director of Career & Transitional Services.

This position will be responsible for monitoring and providing continuous enrollment and student services to a defined cohort in an effort to improve student retention. Responsibilities include working with a retention team, developing and conducting workshops, monitoring student progress, providing outreach to campus academic and student support services, assisting students in navigating barriers to continuous enrollment, providing academic advising and documenting student participation and progress. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Typical Work ActivitiesEssential Functions:
1. Assess student needs and provide information and resources about academic requirements, college processes, and special support services.

2. Assist with basic academic advising questions and assists students in preparing for academic advising appointments with their assigned faculty advisor.

3. Monitor students' progress through scheduled individual meetings and early alert monitoring, and assess student progress toward program objectives and offer support at critical points in semester.

4. Provide support for students on both a scheduled and drop-in basis, in person and remotely.

5. Liaison with other offices on campus to enhance students' college experience and promote degree completion.

6. Collaborate with other staff on progress surveys, program policies and procedures, and resolving issues that create barriers for continuous student enrollment.

7. Resolve complex student issues in various stages of crisis, providing academic options and advocacy.

8. Oversee assigned projects within the department to include, creation, coordination, and monitoring, and/or related to at-risk student populations.

9. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other members of the campus community and serve as a resource for faculty and staff to support student retention.

10. Participates in a positive manner in the daily performance of duties in which an environment of respect and cooperation is fostered and demonstrated.

11. Assist with the preparation of reporting, as needed.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions: Must be able to relate to a diverse student population and academic personnel; must have strong interpersonal communication skills; must take direction and execute prioritized tasks; must have strong time management and multitasking capabilities; must be able to operate computers; must be able to speak to groups; must be able to physically perform the duties of the position; must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel between work sites.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree; one (1) year full-time or equivalent part-time paid, professional experience working with students in a higher education setting.

Desirable Qualifications: Master's Degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, or related area; public speaking experience; expertise utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
