The University of Missouri – St. Louis is seeking applications for the position of Manager of Annual Giving. Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, and functioning as a member of the Alumni Engagement & Annual Giving team, the Manager will assist in developing strategy for a comprehensive annual giving program, with emphasis on alumni participation, donor acquisition and retention. The Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing a sophisticated telemarketing program to raise the maximum number of contributions from UMSL alumni, parents and friends. The Manager also works on e-solicitations and Days of Giving.
Assist with the overall strategic development, implementation and management of a comprehensive and sophisticated annual giving program.
Develop a specific strategic plan for donor acquisition, renewals and upgrades through a phoning program, including coordination with direct mail, e-solicitation and Crowdfunding.
Research and implement best practices for telemarketing, including script writing, on-going training, tracking statistics, etc.
Recruit, hire and train a pool of student callers to fill 10-12 calling stations for a pre-determined number of calling shifts during fall and spring semesters.
Report daily calling results and provide regular analysis of phoning campaigns for specific segments/Colleges/units; identify and implement opportunities to improve program performance.
Work closely with the Director of Annual Giving and the Assistant Director of Alumni Communications to develop and implement a strategic and sophisticated e-solicitation program.
Work closely with the Annual Giving group to develop and implement a strategy for “Days of Giving,” including the national “Giving Tuesday” every November.
Manage program budgets.
Work in close coordination with Advancement Services team to keep data fresh, produce pledge letters, pledge reminders, etc.
Develop new program opportunities to solicit and maintain campus-wide participation and usage of the Call Center.
Assist in other related areas as assigned, including alumni engagement programs and activities.
Direction is received from the Director of Annual Giving, or a designate.
Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over student workers.
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, communications or a related field.
Ability to develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships.
Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive research university setting.
Good interpersonal relationship skills.
Good written and oral communications skills.
Ability to analyze and translate data into programmatic changes for best results.
Resiliency and good humor.
One to three years’ experience in telemarketing or other fundraising is necessary.
Experience in higher education fundraising is a plus.
