Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Specialist II for the Access Center of the Interim Managing Entity Program, at Rutgers University -Behavioral Health Care.
Performs functions in support of the Unit's mission by providing person centered, culturally competent, and "consumer friendly" services to individuals who contact the Call Center. Receives requests for service, undertakes review of the service needs of the caller or consumer, and responds by offering support and appropriate referrals and dispositions.
Assists the individuals served in identifying their personal goals, in setting objectives for each goal, and determining interventions to be used, based on the consumer's life goals.
Assists the individual being served to effectively address the problem, and/or refers the individuals being served, to the appropriate clinical staff.
Provides assistance to Mental Health Specialists III, as needed, and under the direction of the supervisor.
Consistently demonstrates session/group facilitation management skills, as applicable.
Demonstrates awareness that the CASE model is the tool used by UBHC to assess suicide risk.
Demonstrates the ability to use a standardized template,thoroughly and efficiently,to guide a telephone screening of the service needs of all populations,with the full array of behavioral health problems.
Demonstrates the ability to identify contacts that need a higher level of intervention, and follow departmental protocol for handling and triaging crisis or high risk calls.
Identifies appropriate resources for consumers,based on assessed needs,as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Documents all contact information in accordance with departmental protocols and accurately and appropriately inputs data in unit's informational system.
Completes all aspects of necessary documentation for each contract,as indicated by regular review of records.
Maintains comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of eligibility and admission criteria for units, programs and contracts.
Enhances skills and knowledge base of population served,by participating in trainings, as assigned by supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Home Location Campus: Piscataway (RBHS)
Previous training and/or experience working with substance use disorders,is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
