OHIO University Office of Information Technology is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Middleware Engineer II. This position is a member of the middleware & enterprise architecture team that engineers the infrastructure and platforms required for middleware, application integration and development. Provides primary support for moderately-sized middleware platforms and/or technologies and acts as secondary support for others. Contributes as a member of a project team by assisting with the architecture of solutions. Involved in the implementation and support of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development,implementation and use of integration and development technologies.
Key Accountabilities: -Works with customers to gather requirements for well understood integrations and designs the solutions. Contributes to projects teams that need moderate middleware architecture support. Leads projects that are internal to the middleware team. -Develops complex integrations and performs simple modifications to packaged software. Documents integration solutions, software modifications, and reviews documentation created by peers. Reviews coding done by peers and less experienced team members. - Provides primary support (engineers, installs, upgrades, maintains, and administers) for moderately-sized middleware platforms and/or technologies and acts as secondary support for others. Leads the documentation and maintenance of the policies, procedures, and standardizations for the primary supported middleware platforms. Contributes to the creation and maintenance of the policies, procedures, and standardizations for the rest of the middleware platforms and technologies administered by the middleware team. Successful candidate must also possess the following: - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to be highly organized and detail-oriented. - Capability for quickly learning new tools and processes.
Minimum of 1 year experience designing, implementing, and documenting solutions and standard integrations based on customer’s requirements.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in software or systems engineering.
Familiarity with software quality assurance, software engineering processes, product release planning, project estimation, scheduling and tracking.
Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
Experience in identity and access management.
Experience with managing/administering any of the following technologies: F5, Tomcat, MuleSoft ESB, Single Sign On (SAML), API Gateways, NodeJS, IBM Security Access Manager, IBM Security Identity Manager
Experience working in a higher education environment.
