Essential Duties & Responsibilities of this System Administrator include daily support, ongoing maintenance, administration and configuration of the following: IP cameras and video management systems, body and cruiser cameras system, access control system, LEADS / CCH law enforcement systems, emergency notification system management, audio communications logging system, CAD (computer aided dispatch system), learning management system support, EOC general administration and technical support, secure key/access management systems, and general desktop / software support.
The system administrator provides supported (current) systems (Operations and Implementation): Milestone XProtect, WatchGuard / Evidence Library, AMAG / Symmetry, Rave Alert -emergency notification for higher education, Audio log, Alert PSS, Blue Quill LMS, and Key Watcher. The system administrator may be required to serve on On-Call / On-Duty rotations for after-hours support - 24/7 availability during rotation.

1) Maintains and administers computer systems including planning, implementing and managing campus computer applications, network, and web servers.
2) Provides technical support to end-users. Answers routine questions, and resolves complex technical issues.
3) Installs and configures operating systems and software applications. Maintains server hardware, applies service packs and upgrades resources, and monitors performance. Troubleshoots network, hardware and software problems.
4) Tests, evaluates and makes recommendations for purchases of hardware and software.
5) Maintains records reflecting network configurations, directories, passwords, and other confidential or sensitive information.
6) Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
7) Works assigned schedule exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as needed to meet workload demands.
8) Performs other related duties as required.

Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee occasionally lifts or exerts force of varying weights up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Normal working conditions. Employee is occasionally exposed to minor cuts, burns or other incapacitating injury. Occasional risk of electrical shock.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: networking principles and practices [advanced level]; network operating systems; computer programs and applications; diagnostic software. Skill in: installing and maintaining computer networks; diagnosing and resolving complex technical and networking issues; customer service; routine typing; analytical thinking; operation of job-related equipment including computers, diagnostic tools, and other equipment. Ability to: perform light physical labor for extended periods of time; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, students, general public, and other job contacts; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; maintain confidential and sensitive information.
High School diploma or GED and at least two years experience in a technical support role. Basic technician certification. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field, previous implementation and support of video system administration and familiarity with law enforcement systems. Experience with Windows server administration and general technical support, a plus. MCSA or MCSE certification.
