Providence is calling an Accountant to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.
We are seeking an Accountant to perform a wide variety of recurring routine accounting functions requiring understanding and application of fundamental accounting principles and practices.
In this position you will:
Work on the monthly general ledger closing process via preparation of accounting journal entries, performing basic analysis of accounts and accruals, and posting journal entries into the system; be responsible for a small entity with proper manager review of work.
Prepare monthly reconciliation for assigned accounts including research and preparing any correcting entries for approval and posting.
Maintain professional growth and development through continuing education, participation in trainings and professional associations and other activities to keep abreast of current technology and organization practices.
Participate in unit/department performance improvement activities to ensure the development and implementation of processes that support quality service and effective work performance.
Participate in all mandatory staff meetings and training programs to ensure continued understanding of all departmental policies, procedures and performance improvement programs and processes.
Maintain accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Providence Health & Services Technical Accounting Bulletins, system and regional financial policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies.
Maintain confidentiality of records, patient, employee or medical center information at all times; ensure all information and conversations regarding patients are secured from general public access; perform other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications for this position include :
Equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business.
Three (3) years of accounting experience, including experience in general ledger accounting work.
Proficient in use of computers, including MS Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Basic knowledge of MS Access or other databases.
General understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
BA in Accounting, Business or related field.
Three (3) years of healthcare, not-for-profit, or position specific experience (e.g., grants, foundations, corporate accounting, treasury).
