Associate/Full Professor and Chair of the Division of Biomaterials and Bioengineering (BMBE) at the UCSF School of Dentistry, Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences
The Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences (PRDS) in the School of Dentistry of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), invites applications to fill the Division Chair position at the Associate/ Full Professor level in the PRDS Division of Biomaterials and Bioengineering (BMBE). The Candidate should have at minimum 10 years of research experience in dental biomaterials, bioengineering, tissue engineering, bio-mimetics or a related field, as well as a strong track record of experience in teaching and training pre-doctoral, doctoral, and postgraduate students. Candidates must show evidence of research excellence in the form of prior and ongoing independent research funding, preferably in the area of clinical/translational research in the previously mentioned areas of research. Candidates must also demonstrate the exceptional leadership skills involved in building effective collaborations between the Division’s research program and clinicians in the School of Dentistry and other units within UCSF with similar interests. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and management of the Division and will take a strong leadership role in the administration, teaching, research, and service missions of the Department. Candidates must have at least 5 years of administrative and leadership experience in an academic setting, such as in a section, division or department. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and be qualified to be appointed at the associate professor or professor level in the appropriate academic series at UCSF. Candidates who hold a DDS, DMD or similar degree in addition to their doctorate are considered highly desirable.
