ABOUT THE POSITION
This is a part-time, temporary faculty position typically assigned as-needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
The Health Promotion and Management Program at Bellevue College is seeking an on-going pool of qualified applicants for the following evening or online sections:
HPM 335 US Healthcare Systems (5cr) Fall term
HPM 415 Community Health (2cr) Fall term
HPM 445 Health Promotion Program Evaluation (5cr) Winter term
HPM 450 Worksite Wellness Management (4cr) Winter term
HPM 470 Technological Applications in Health Promotion (4cr) Spring term
ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR BASE RATE:
CATEGORY-A: $28.75 per contact hour
Courses of a clinical nature and non-instructional assignments such as developmental lab teaching assistants.
CATEGORY-B: $40.94 per contact hour
Counseling and Library assignments and courses with little or no formal evaluation of the student.
CATEGORY-C: $11,685.87 per FTEF
College credit courses and required high school completion courses
Part-time faculty with 50% or more load must become members of the Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union, or pay a representation fee to the Association.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES
The instructor shall perform their duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Vice President of Instruction, Health Promotion & Management Chair, and Dean of the Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute. As an instructor in the Health Promotion & Management Department, the individual is responsible for: teaching in the classroom; assessing student learning outcomes; participating in on-going curriculum development, revision and implementation maintaining current knowledge and skills in area of assignment; demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and fostering a positive, caring learning environment where diversity and pluralism is valued.
Master's degree in Public Health, Health and Physical Education, Health Science or a related field and one year teaching experience.
Experience working collegially with diverse colleagues in a collaborative and inclusive environment
Ability to instruct, supervise and evaluate students enrolled in the Health Promotion & Management BAS
PhD in related field and ability to teach a variety of 300-400 level health promotion and fitness classes
Ability to utilize a variety of established and innovative teaching techniques to facilitate the learning process
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with students, colleagues and coaching professionals
Sensitivity to and understand of the diverse socioeconomic, academic, cultural, ethnic and physical ability backgrounds of college students
Experience in curriculum development
Effective leadership and collaborative working experience
Expertise in current technological applications in disciplinary curricular content and in delivery of disciplinary content
Effective communication and listening skills as an effective team player
Experience that shows enthusiasm for the profession; highly motivated, with a sense of humor and willingness to adapt to change
Commitment to personal and professional development
