Under the direction of the Education & Quality Assurance Administrator (EQAA), the Training Lead oversees the implementation of the comprehensive Education & Quality Assurance (EQA) Husbandry & Operations (H&O) training program at MSK, Weill Cornell Medical College and the Hospital for Special Surgery.
As a Husbandry & Operations Training Lead you will:
Directly supervise the functions and activities of EQA H&O trainers responsible for H&O training, while coordinating hiring, orienting, and training of EQA H&O trainers. Assess daily performance and provide disciplinary action, administers annual staff performance appraisals and approves vacation requests. Responds to employee questions and provides guidance on how to proceed.
In consultation with the EQAA and H&O Senior Management, you will develop and implement a comprehensive educational program covering all phases of routine maintenance and animal husbandry for approximately 130+ RARC Animal Care Staff supporting various species, including initial RARC orientation and hands-on training sessions for all new Animal Care Staff (ACS) as well as ongoing training of all current RARC ACS.
Provide oversight of the training of ACS including Animal Receiving Staff. Training will be provided on all standard husbandry and maintenance duties including but not limited to animal handling, cage changing, animal health checks, equipment use and maintenance, etc.
Oversee the implementation of annual AALAS Certification Prep classes (ALAT, LAT, LATG).
Develops quality control programs related to animal care to ensure proper practices are maintained.
Bachelor’s Degree in biological, educational or animal related field required with 4-7 years of llaboratory research utilizing animal models, laboratory animal science program, teaching, direct management of staff. Master’s preferred.
