The Medicine Department at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Lab Computer Operator. The incumbent will coordinate data entry for several large clinical trials and act as a liaison between the University of Pittsburgh and national coordinating centers. The incumbent will perform services of data coordinator for a large database of clinical research data on patients with pulmonary disease and HIV. The Lab Computer Operator will be responsible for performing daily support and project activities, design forms, design database and program special applications; recommending system improvement and changes related to the size and focus of the database activity to the Medical Director. Additional responsibilities include: performing data analysis, including moderate complexity statistical analysis, generate reports and graphs, and assist in manuscript preparation and formal PowerPoint presentations.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Bachelor's degree in computer science or information management area or expert knowledge of database programming, operation and management strongly preferred. Facility with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Office applications, basic knowledge in visual basic programming and experience with basic statistical analysis programs essential. Additional experience with an Associates degree may be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
