The Aging Institute of UPMC Senior Services and the University of Pittsburgh (Aging Institute) was established by the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC to provide integrated, comprehensive, and timely access to a full range of services for aged persons and the public, to offer state-of-the-art educational programs for the public and healthcare professionals, and to promote innovative research on aging to understand its causes and concomitants, both social and biological, as well as how best to intervene in illnesses associated with the aging process.
The Aging Institute will expand markedly to focus on the identification of signaling pathways and therapies that target the process of aging. A major focus of the new Aging Institute will be the development of drugs that enhance the fundamental resilience to age, thus preventing age-related complications, such as atherosclerosis, lung fibrosis, and neurodegenerative diseases. The goal is to illuminate the root cause of the diseases associated with aging, with the ultimate goal of extending one's health span, to essentially reach a long life free of disease.
We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and hard-working individual to provide high-level management and coordination in all academic and educational activities, research activities, and facility management. The incumbent will manage the robust faculty recruitment initiatives of the Aging Institute. (S)he will provide high-level administrative support for the Director, Administrator and other AI faculty members, and serve as the communication liaison with other University departments, national and international associations, and collaborators of the AI faculty.
The location for this position is at Bridgeside Point, 100 Technology Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Anticipated start for this position is August 1, 2017.
Minimum Related Experience Level Required
3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
3-5 years relevant experience preferred. 5+ additional years of experience in a high level administrative role may be substituted for the degree. Must have knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and especially calendar software (eg. Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience in guest relations preferred. Must function well under stress and competing demands, must be a self-starter and work independently.
