An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Fund Regulatory Development to inform and provide expert advice in relation to fund regulatory developments.
Your responsibilities will be...
* Understand and communicate the impacts of fund-related regulatory developments, including in relation to their distribution, on M&G by assimilating and aggregating large quantities of complex information to identify priorities, themes and trends * Provide regular briefings and reporting on fund-related regulatory developments and relevant policy issues to senior management and governance bodies * Develop internal policy papers on fund-related regulatory developments and deliver internal training on fund-related regulatory matters * Hold cross-business impact assessment meetings with concerned stakeholders to obtain feedback on relevant regulatory developments * Participate in regulatory change implementation projects as subject matter expert on regulation and arbitrate on regulatory interpretations where differences of view exist, as required * Engage the business on regulatory developments affecting funds and their distribution, co-ordinate feedback and draft M&G responses to regulatory proposals, working closely with Prudential's Group Public Affairs * Represent M&G's views via external bodies (e.g. asset management industry trade associations) or directly to policy makers and legislators, as appropriate * Support the Director of Compliance Strategy & Regulatory Development with regard to the efficient operation of the Regulation Forum * Liaising with the Compliance Advisory Team on emerging fund regulatory issues and developments in order for these to be incorporated in Compliance advice delivered to the business * Deputise for the Director of Compliance Strategy & Regulatory Development when required * Be proactive, demonstrate well considered judgements and anticipate emerging risks * Ensure that M&G risk and control methodologies are applied on a consistent basis
Internal & external relationships
* Act as a key contact for executive management and relevant Boards in relation to fund regulatory developments * Maintain effective contact with regulatory policymakers and industry experts to ensure M&G sustains best practice in anticipating and responding to regulatory developments * Participate in and work with relevant industry bodies and groups in relation to fund regulatory developments, initiatives, trends and proposals * Participate in external conference panels and meet clients to highlight fund regulatory developments and obtain market feedback * Develop positive and professional working relationships within the Risk and Compliance Departments, Group-wide Internal Audit and with senior managers throughout M&G * Build and maintain an effective cross departmental internal network to facilitate a deep understanding of the business
What are we looking for?
* You will ideally be educated to a degree level and have a relevant compliance qualification as well as an investment management qualification. * It is desirable for you to have Managerial experience but not essential. * You will show in-depth knowledge and awareness of UK and European regulatory environments, particularly in the funds area, and their impacts on an EU-based Fund Manager. * You will have a strong understanding and experience of interpreting regulations as they apply to retail and institutional investors. * You will need strong knowledge and experience of interpreting regulations as they apply to retail and institutional investors. * You will need a strong understanding of the process and development of regulatory policy, including interactions with legislators and policymakers.
