TITLE OF POSITION/RANK: Maintenance Mechanic I (Utility) – 2 Positions
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Physical Plant
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Mechanic will keep records including, but not limited to work orders, scheduled work and priority projects. S/he will remove snow, salt and sand sidewalks, stairs, roads, etc., and perform additional custodial tasks during the winter months. Reporting defective and damaged equipment and supplies to supervisors for corrective action, maintaining work areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition, and performing routine and emergency repairs and maintenance, both scheduled and in response to emergency situations, is also required. S/he may perform other incidental tasks, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a minimum of five years of work experience, three years of which must have been in grounds maintenance or general maintenance and repair work. Specific substitutions allowed, including the substitution of the satisfactory completion of high school or the possession of an equivalency diploma for the two years of general work experience. Depending on assignment, the successful candidate must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State, appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $39,500, plus excellent benefits.
