The Myers-Lawson School of Building Construction is currently searching for a salaried part-time Academic Advisor/Recruiter to assist students in achieving educational and career goals through the use of the full range of institutional, business, and community resources. This position provides academic advising, monitors students' progress, implements engagement events and programs, and assists students with academic difficulties. Facilitates workshops and seminar classes on academic success strategies and develops training materials and presentations. Develops and maintains a strategic growth enrollment recruitment plan. Communicates with internal and external professionals to provide academic information, recruits prospective students, and discusses career opportunities for current students and alumni.
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and/or experience. - Demonstrated knowledge and use of computers with the ability to use software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. - Demonstrated knowledge and skill such as creating, editing, and handling professional documents and correspondence and managing confidential files and materials. - Communication and computational skills, as well as a service-oriented attitude. - Professional demeanor and team attitude. - Promoter of diversity and inclusion.
Position is 20 hours initially. Four hours per day, M-F during the hours 8-5. Some weekend events. 12 – month position.
- Academic advising experience in a higher educational setting. - Familiarity with student information systems, preferably BANNER. - Member of NACADA or like professional organization.
