The Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine is seeking a full-time faculty member for a position in pediatric health services research and general pediatrics at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
The Division provides outpatient primary care (including urgent care) to diverse populations across the western half of Los Angeles, as well as adolescent & young adult, developmental & behavioral, dermatologic, child abuse, and obesity subspecialty services. The Division also houses the UCLA Pediatric Medical Home Program, one of the oldest complex care medical homes in the US. Finally, the Division is integrated with the UCLA Pediatric Residency Program and supervises continuity and urgent care experiences for most of its residents.
The Division’s research is housed in the Health Services Research Program in the UCLA Children’s Discovery & Innovation Institute. The Division’s research is multi-disciplinary, community-engaged, and methodologically innovative and diverse. Research focuses on primary care redesign addressing major childhood determinants of adult health, including: child trauma and resilience, parenting and early child development, educational achievement, youth incarceration, poverty and disparities, health behaviors, vaccinations, and medical complexity. The Division is integrated with two major health services research fellowship programs, the UCLA National Clinician Scholars Program and the UCLA NRSA Primary Care & Health Services Fellowship.
The Division is seeking a pediatrician who has established an independent research career—including major funding beyond the career development award level and a record of successful mentorship of junior faculty investigators—in one or more areas consistent with the mission of the Health Services Research Program. The candidate should also have an outstanding clinical and teaching record, and rich experience with community engagement. Additional policy and/or advocacy experience is preferred.
Candidates must have an MD and be BC/BE in Pediatrics. Formal fellowship training focused on health services research or health policy, with a Masters or Doctoral degree, is preferred.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Faculty appointment is with the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.
