Asbury University seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as Provost.
The Provost’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the academic mission of the University is maintained at the highest levels of integrity and efficiency. They will formulate and administer academic policies and procedures consistent with generally accepted practices for accredited institutions of higher learning. In addition, they will supervise key personnel and functions that guide academic administration and support services, faculty selection/development, curricular assessment and design. The Provost serves as the second-in-command and Chief Operating Officer for general institutional administration in the absence of the President. He or she will also serve on the President’s Cabinet directing all academic programs. The Provost will consult with the President and with the counsel of the Vice President for Business Affairs to implement budgetary planning, administration and allocation responsibilities for the academic programs and services of the institution.
The successful candidate will possess a Christian commitment that is compatible with Asbury’s Wesleyan, Arminian, and Holiness heritage and be in harmony with the University's Statement of Faith, Community Life Standards and Statement on Human Sexuality. They will also demonstrate understanding of the value of a Christian liberal arts education within the context of a Wesleyan, Arminian and Holiness world view. The individual will possess the highest integrity, firmly committed to supporting Asbury’s historic mission and current leadership while modeling the highest standards of evangelical Christian commitment. They will hold a terminal degree in a field of study compatible with the institution and complementary to the expectations of the office. They will have an employment history which demonstrates a breadth of administrative, academic leadership and institutional planning experiences and skills in accredited liberal arts settings similar to Asbury University in missions and purpose. Experience with regional and professional accrediting bodies is highly preferred.
