THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI – ST. LOUIS invites applicants for a non-tenure-track teaching position at the Assistant Professor rank in the area of CHILD ADVOCACY STUDIES (CAST). Successful candidates will have teaching and direct service expertise in the area of child maltreatment, which may include multidisciplinary team collaboration, forensic interviewing, family advocacy, or trauma-focused psychotherapy with children exposed to maltreatment. Candidates with a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline, and who are license-eligible in the state of Missouri, are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with related degrees (e.g. J.D., MSW) and relevant experience will also be considered. The position will mostly entail in-person and online teaching in the undergraduate Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) program and some direct forensic or clinical service to the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), a division in the UM-St. Louis Department of Psychological Sciences.
Children’s Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis (CASGSL) is housed on campus in a state-of-the-art clinical training facility with two satellite locations, one of which supports a “mock house” that serves as a simulation lab for CAST courses. CASGSL is accredited by the National Children’s Alliance and conducts over 700 forensic interviews and 8,000 sessions of trauma focused counseling to children and adolescents each year. CASGSL is a proud member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network where it serves as a Category II Treatment and Services Adaptation Center.
