The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) is a center in the University of Washington's Department of Global Health that works in partnership with the University of California, San Francisco. I-TECH has projects in more than 20 countries, and its worldwide staff work with local ministries of health, universities, non-governmental organizations, medical facilities, and other partners to support efficient, well-ordered health care systems that provide high quality care to all citizens.
The I-TECH Namibia program provides technical assistance and direct service delivery to improve HIV care and treatment services in 60+ facilities in five regions, VMMC services in two regions, as well as implements programs for adolescent girls and young women to remain HIV- in two regions in Namibia. The I-TECH Namibia program also works in the areas of distance education, cervical cancer, and implementation science.
I-TECH has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Survey Operations Coordinator. The Survey Operations Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and implementing survey systems, including IRB applications, correspondence with stakeholders, and sub-contract management. This position will supervise 3-5 employees and serve as primary survey coordinator, responsible for day-to-day survey implementation. This position will report to the country director and requires ongoing communication and collaboration with senior staff at the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) and CDC as well as with the Principle Investigator and the Senior Program Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Protocol Development and Implementation:
Actively participate in protocol adaptation for survey.
Adapt survey materials including case report forms, standard operations procedures, study operations manuals, etc.
Review and approve site survey consent forms and SOPs.
Recruit and interview survey implementation team members.
Create survey training materials and conduct survey training, as needed.
Build collaborative relationships with implementation partners at survey sites.
Manage sub-contract relationships for survey implementation.
Track and report site progress throughout the survey and problem solve survey operations and implementation issues.
Identify operational obstacles and find solutions for proper survey implementation and conduct.
Complete site visits and ensure survey procedures are being implemented as stated in protocol, and identify and escalate issues, as needed.
Compile regular survey status reports to funders, as needed.
Develop and maintain the Study Master File for survey.
Perform other related duties, as required, to keep the survey moving forward and on track.

Master's degree in public health or related field with at least 3 years applicable experience required, relevant experience can substitute for education.
Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Access, MS Work, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Meticulous organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task and work independently and effectively in large, complex, multi-departmental, cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Demonstration of excellent English communication skills, both written and oral.
International research or survey experience in Southern Africa, particularly Namibia or South Africa.
Experience working with adolescent populations.
Experience with mobile data-collection applications such as REDCap.
Condition of Employment:
Appointment to this position is contingent upon obtaining satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
This position is based in Windhoek, Namibia and will require extensive travel (<50%) within Namibia. Travelers must be prepared to follow the UW and US government recommended precautions and prophylaxis for travel safety and disease prevention. This position requires frequent participation in early morning and late evening telephone conference calls in order to accommodate time zone differences between Seattle and Namibia.
