The Department of Art & Design at Central Washington University is seeking a Graphic Designer who is passionate about undergraduate education and student success, and who shows a strong commitment to teaching a student body that is diverse with respect to socioeconomic status, culture, academic interests, and career paths. The department is seeking a candidate that has recently finished an MFA program. The position includes release time to accommodate creative/scholarly development.
The successful candidate will be able to teach all levels of graphic design, and have demonstrated expertise in digital media including interactive design and user interface/user experience design. All faculty members are expected to maintain a strong record of professional and creative development. Additional responsibilities might include program assessment, internship mentoring, service on departmental, college, and university committees, the supervision of studio facilities and printing areas, and curriculum development.
The full-time position will be at the lecturer rank with a 9-month contract and an expectation of teaching two courses per quarter. The overall workload breakdown will be approximately 70% teaching, 20% creative/scholarship/research, and 10% service. This unique one-year position will continue to strengthen CWU's commitment to inclusivity and diversity, particularly in Department of Art & Design.
MFA degree in Art with specific expertise in graphic design, digital media, or related field;
Evidence of interactive/UI/UX/web design and graphic design experience;
A record of ongoing creative and/or professional activity in graphic design and/or digital media
