The RN for oncology provides direct patient care including patient education and the mixing and management of chemotherapy administration. Collaborates with other health-care professionals to improve patient outcomes, continuum of care and to meet the needs of the patient and family including; assessing the needs of the patient; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; and orients and educates peers, patients and families on treatment plans.
Education: Diploma, Associate's or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Experience: 1-3 years in a clinical setting with at least 1 year experience in Oncology setting preferred. Two or more years of recent chemotherapy infusion nursing and hematology/oncology experience preferred. Recent Ambulatory Care experience preferred.
Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Michigan required. Chemotherapy certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Certification by OCN preferred.
Skills & Abilities: The RN must be willing to travel between health care centers as requested. Demonstrated ability to practice independently, set goals, promote teamwork, coordinate and perform multiple activities and problem solve as measured by interview, references, and performance evaluations. Ability to mix chemotherapy. Demonstrated ability to start IVs. Strong computer/typing skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and other programs.
