Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the CUMC Senior Director, the Sr. Payroll/Database Analyst will be responsible for processing the semi-monthly payroll for officers and faculty. This includes but is not limited to the processing of hiring documents and subsequent personnel and payroll transactions, verifying labor distribution of salaries and Ad Comp. It will also include reviewing transactions for completeness, accuracy and conformity with union, university and governmental policy and regulations. Investigates and resolves payroll issues. This position is also responsible for the analysis of salary distribution, fringe benefit calculations, suspense accounts and any other reporting required by the department.
Duties and Responsibilities: -Reviews TBH entries for Central officers and faculty entered by the Payroll Analyst. -Review and processing of subsequent personnel and payroll transactions for Central officers and faculty. -Review all transactions for completeness and accuracy. -Confirm annual and pay period salaries -Check for proper approvals and that documentation is complete -Ensure that labor distributions are accurately coded based on the position. -Process and review Ad Comp payments and confirm that earnings codes have been assigned correctly. -Run reports to analyze labor distribution, Ad Comp and fringe benefit calculations -Run and modify annual & periodic reports for CUMC -Analyze suspense accounts each month. Notify departments of large balances to be cleared. -Process cross transfers -Run and modify XYZ comp reports for P&S -Recommend changes to configuration in PeopleSoft to allow for better reporting and contribution to continuous improvement of processes, procedures and systems. -All other duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience with academic payroll experience or in similar organization.
4 years experience using PeopleSoft payroll. 4 years experience in analytical capacity. Advanced knowledge of PeopleSoft queries. Advanced knowledge of Excel & Access. Knowledge of audit controls and procedures. Excellent organizational, writing and communication skills.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Ability to analyze and evaluate work methods, design and implement 'best practice' payroll systems and procedures. Effective utilization of computer equipment and software to perform duties. -Analysis of payroll data and practices, applying relevant laws, regulations and principles. -The ability to meet and work to deadlines. -High level communication skills including preparation of clear concise instructions, manuals and reports. -Strong presentation skills. -Ability to train others in specialized payroll practices and procedures.
