Under the direction of the Director of Graduate Alumni Relations and Student Affairs, the DECADE PLUS Coordinator is responsible for implementing the DECADE PLUS Program. Diverse Educational Community and Doctoral Experience (DECADE) Partnering in Leadership for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) is an extension of DECADE, a program designed to address and improve the climate for diversity in graduate programs at UCI. DECADE PLUS furthers the mission of DECADE by working to create an environment of accessibility while fostering success for undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, in all years throughout the undergraduate experience. DECADE PLUS also promotes graduate professional development through offering targeted mentoring training and development. DECADE PLUS is a mentoring program geared toward improving scholarship, first-year retention, persistence and degree completion of the diverse student population served. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and implementing the day-to-day aspects, as well as the content of the program. As a member of the professional staff for DECADE PLUS, the Coordinator also serves in a leadership role necessary to provide guidance and mentorship to the program's graduate and undergraduate student staff. In addition, the Coordinator will counsel and advise the undergraduate student participants, as needed, during the program. The Coordinator is responsible for managing all program information and implementing appropriate tracking mechanisms. The incumbent serves as a liaison with partner offices, including, but not limited to, the Division of Undergraduate Education and the Office of Financial Aid.
