The School of Communication Studies (COMS) seeks a one-year instructor to teach courses in its undergraduate program.
COMS has three areas of emphasis for majors: Communication and Public Advocacy, Health Communication, and Organizational Communication. We welcome applicants who can contribute across these areas, but we are especially Interested in those who offer expertise in organizational communication. This position commences August 15, 2017.
The School of Communication Studies (www.ohiocommstudies.com) is housed in Ohio University's nationally recognized Scripps College of Communication, designated a "Center of Excellence" by the State of Ohio. On the Athens campus, the School offers B.S.C. and Ph.D. degrees serving approximately 500 undergraduate majors and 50 graduate students. With the assistance of our regional colleagues, we also offer an online MA program. We are a collegial faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching and research. Excellent opportunities exist to collaborate with colleagues in the schools of Visual Communication, Journalism, Media Arts and Studies, and Information and Telecommunication Systems on creative, multi-disciplinary courses and research projects. In addition, unique opportunities arise from our presence in Appalachia.
Applicants must have at least a Master's degree, but preference will be given to those who are A.B.D., or have a Ph.D. Candidates should have a strong record of teaching, demonstrate a commitment to engaged student learning, and exhibit appreciation for diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to communication.
