About the position:
In this role you will manage the business compliance program of TrueBlue Inc.’s (TBI) Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) for Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). It requires in-depth policy, process, governance, and operational execution knowledge of risks and controls that enhance compliance requirements. You must be a strong project manager who can work with multiple stakeholders, often managing several projects and priorities at once. We value personality, insight, intellectual flexibility, and sound business judgment. This role is highly visible at all levels of the organization including the CFO.
This position is based in Tacoma, Washington (USA) and may require up to 10% domestic and 10% international travel. You will report directly to the Global Controller.
Lead and review SOX documentation process to ensure W-desk is the source of complete and accurate information for business controls (i.e., risk control matrices, narratives, process flow diagrams, etc.)
Assist process/control owners in developing the best method for execution and documentation (e.g., checklists) ensuring controls are clearly and concisely captured to fully address the risk and all attributes
Establish and maintain influential relationships with process/control owners to proactively assess business risks and develop risk mitigation
Monitor and evaluate processes and/or systems control changes to determine validity, necessity and potential impact to the control environment and modifying controls as required, working with process/control owners to ensure they understand their new/modified role
SOX Support Team and W-Desk Administration
Develop proficiency in W-desk, which is the central repository for all business controls documentation, utilizing full functionality and drive annual improvements to automation
Partner with TBI’s IT Governance and Compliance department to share knowledge and information as it relates to IT controls, specifically joint ownership of change management, access controls and maintain awareness due the business’ dependency on the IT control environment
Develop and streamline the segregation of duties (SOD) review process with the IT Governance and Compliance department
Internal Audit (IA) and External Audit Management
Manage the day-to-day relationship with TBI’s internal auditors as it relates to the control environment
Attend all meetings with IA and process/cycle owners where IA has identified a potential deficiency. Support process/control owners with agreed upon deficiency remediation, as required.
Track and report all open items and deficiencies identified by the internal auditors ensuring timely completion and remediation by process/control owners
Establish change management process with Internal Audit to maintain alignment with identified controls
Work with TBI’s internal auditors to ensure continued compliance with changing regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCAOB, etc.)
Maintain listing of business key controls tested by external auditors and listing of business key controls upon which the external auditors rely upon the work of TBI’s internal auditors
Facilitate the adoption of TBI’s controls for new policies and procedures
Evaluate general and specific training needs; deliver ICFR training to support the control environment and associated control framework; communicate governance and compliance objectives fostering a compliance and risk aware culture
Attend meetings with the business SOX Governance Committee (SGC) to provide updates on the various initiatives related to ICFR
Identify and lead initiatives that promote and build a culture of sustainability reinforcing the importance of process/control owners taking ownership of their own documentation and controls and to always be “audit ready”
Review and evaluate quarterly certifications completed by the process/control owners and resolve all issues identified and required changes noted

BA/BS degree in accounting, information systems, computer science, or related field
8+ years of audit experience including business auditing, risk management, compliance, and project management, at least four of which should be consulting (Big 4 firm experience preferred, but not required)
Relevant certifications (CPA, CISA, or CISSP) preferred
Familiarity with COSO 2013 and PCAOB auditing standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications with specific emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Secondary emphasis on Wdesk, Visio and Access.
