POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT OF AN OUTSTANDING OPPORTUNITY
Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) is in search of the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for our exceptional organization serving hundreds of businesses in Longmont and surrounding communities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading and managing an economic development/community organization. He/she will have a high degree of energy, integrity, caring and creativity along with analytical skills and an ability to work collaboratively.
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
The CEO is responsible for the overall direction and strategy for the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors and other constituencies. This individual is responsible for new ideas and initiatives that advance the goals of LACC. In addition, the CEO is charged with maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization as well as long-term financial planning.
The CEO is LACC’s leader and face within our community. The CEO is responsible for managing day-to-day operations at LACC, providing support to the Board of Directors and committees of the Board, and further enhancing the organization’s image in Longmont and surrounding communities. Areas of responsibility include human resources management, strategic/operational planning, fundraising, financial management, and public relations.
More specifically, the CEO will:
Provide leadership in the development of Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s Board, staff, volunteers, partners and program participants, engaging all toward the vision and mission of the organization, including assisting with the recruitment and training of new Board Members.
Develop strategic organizational objectives for approval by the Board and oversee implementation and periodically measure implementation against the objectives.
Oversee and coordinate the development of annual operating budget, long-range budget, and capital budget along with the implementation and continuous monitoring of the organization’s budget.
Through the management of a strategic communications program, optimize the public image and overall awareness of Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s mission and increase public engagement with the organization.
Increase awareness and education of constituencies regarding public policies impacting membership and programs.
Hire, lead and manage the staff of Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, providing performance measures and career development. Create a results- and team-oriented environment that both challenges people to succeed and rewards outstanding performance.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A proven leader who motivates their team to deliver exceptional performance.
Must be comfortable working and communicating with diverse audiences, including staff, clients, corporate leaders, volunteers, community partners, and others.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a long-term financial plan that will allow for sustained growth and success of the organization.
Experience working with a board of directors and in shepherding the talents of a complex group of volunteers and other supporters who may have different perspectives.
Ability to translate strategic plans into operational plans, setting appropriate goals and metrics for measuring performance, and holding Board, self, and staff accountable for achieving goals.
Ability to understand external factors and trends that impact LACC and our clients such as social policy, governmental funding trends, economic and labor market trends, etc.
Trustworthy, transparent, authentic, ethical, optimistic, collaborative, approachable, and enthusiastic.
Experience as a CEO in a nonprofit sector is a plus. Experience with another Chamber of Commerce is desired.
A minimum of 5 years experience in a senior leadership position(s) with a clear record of achievement.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. Master’s degree a plus.
First and foremost is an effective leader who is able to articulate a vision for the organization and inspire enthusiasm in and support for the mission in others.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Capable of adapting and working effectively with diverse sets of individuals.
Experience managing, motivating, and organizing people to accomplish goals within tight budgetary constraints.
The ability to see and understand multiple perspectives of a situation then analyze and make decisions to move LACC forward.
Is proficient with computers, including website management, preparing financial spreadsheets, maintaining calendars and using presentation tools.
Can participate in the set-up and operations of chamber events, including light lifting and handling chamber materials at events or in the day-to-day office activities.
