Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Vice Chair with a dotted line to the ColumbiaDoctors FPO, the Director of Practice Operations will oversee all operational aspects of the department faculty practice. This includes focus on provider productivity, access / patient satisfaction initiatives, communication and marketing, practice workflow and design, strategic practice expansion and relocations, joint institutional initiatives (e.g. cancer program), space refurbishment and maintenance, collaboration with the ColumbiaDoctors faculty practice organization on space, operations & special projects. This position will interact closely and collaborate with the department's Sr. Director of Finance on all strategy, budgeting, and expenditure decisions. Reporting financial and operational performance indicators at all levels will be important.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Masters Degree preferred, preferably in healthcare or finance related field, as well as 7 years of progressively comprehensive responsible experience in large, complex organizations.
Preferred Qualifications MBA, MSHA, MHA or comparable advanced degree preferred.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Key Responsibilities include: ?Responsible for department sections: Faculty Practice (reception/scheduling, clinical staffing, surgery, oncology, pediatrics, general, contact, dermatopathology), HR Faculty & Education, Resident/ACN Clinic, and IT support. ?Oversee senior faculty practice management staff (Administrative Manager and Clinical Nurse Manager) and all of their reports. ?Administration and operations at all Dermatology locations including CUMC (HIP 12) 51 W 51, 880 Third Ave, E 72nd St, Tarrytown, etc. ?Works directly with the FPO Sr. Dir Operations to standardize practice policies, metrics, space utilization, productivity, etc. ?Dermatology facilities projects (in collaboration with the Sr. Director of Finance). ?Actively participate in key Departmental, FPO, CUMC executive & governance meetings. ?Organize, lead, document Dermatology faculty practice meetings with physicians. Represent dermatology at meetings and committees at ColumbiaDoctors, P&S and NYP. ?Identify areas/potential projects where process redesign/improvement can significantly impact efficiency, quality, profitability, competitive position and customer satisfaction. ?Participate in business case development and prioritization of technology and/or business process driven projects. ?HR functions for the Department, including clinical and administrative staff. ?Prepare for inspections by city, state and federal agencies, including Office Based Surgery and Article 28. ?Oversee development of policies, patient/staff/facilities safety, emergency preparedness materials. ?Ensure compliance with all HIPAA, OSHA, NYS regulations and guidelines. ?Develop productivity & trend reports, track expenses, and prepare budget in conjunction with Sr Director of Finance and CD FPO. ?Market to surrounding community, businesses, referring providers. ?Ensure patient satisfaction, resolve complaints, provider and staff issues. ?Monitor and report on Pt Access & Satisfaction metrics. ?Other departmental responsibilities as required.
