Access Control Manager, Facilities Management and Campus Services (FMCS)-2005832
Facilities Management and Campus Services (FMCS) defines our core activities through stewardship of university facilities and customer satisfaction. We are looking for an Access Control Manager to join our team, who will be assigned to the FMS Life Safety Shop and report to the Life Safety Supervisor. You will be responsible for the daily monitoring and operation of CBORD CS Access access control, Electronic Door Entry and Emergency Call Systems. We will look for you to implement strategies for increasing usability, serviceability and reliability of the systems. This is an especially critical role due to the dependency of over 500 individual users throughout the organization who collaborate with the systems to control access privileges for their individual spaces. You will act as the day to day primary contact for access control support between Facilities Management Services and the campus community. You will attend interdepartmental and project job meetings and maintain a high level of communication between the various departments as well as the university community at large.
Leading the configuration and operation of the campus wide access control system as well as the camera, security, door entry and emergency call systems.
Providing support to approximately 100 access control users.
Responding to daily requests for support from the campus community.
Conducting daily checks of access control systems.
Coordinating support as required to maintain proper system operation.
Coordinating support from other CMU service support organizations as needed.
Developing strategies to increase serviceability, reliability and operability.
Modifying systems as required to enhance operabilty and improve user experience.
Providing support to CMU project managers and their subcontractors during renovation projects.
Attending training as required to meet position requirements, professional development and departmental goals.
You should be someone who is skilled in deciphering complex engineering drawings and specifications, and able to interpret programming languages and protocols used in the configuration of access control systems. You should demonstrate the ability to analyze complex technical problems, evaluate a variety of reliable solutions and implement strategies to optimize results in a zero tolerance environment. You should also be able to design and integrate various systems to meet operational goals, work under pressure and meet hard deadlines. The person selected for this role will demonstrate extraordinary accuracy, organization, communication and technical skills.
Associate's degree from a technical school required, or a high school degree and equivalent combination of training and experience; Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in the administration, installation, commissioning and maintenance of access control systems
Certification in access control and camera system design and installation preferred. CBORD factory training preferred.
Experience working in an institutional or educational environment a plus
Experience working with automated entry systems preferred
