GENERAL SUMMARY: The System Director, Clinical Services, strives to improve the health of patients, families and communities by leveraging information systems. This includes the use of technology in the direct provision of patient care, establishing effective clinical information systems, planning and delivering educational experiences, supporting life-long learning, and evidenced based practice. The Director provides direction to physicians, nursing and other health care professionals in the clinical component of systems and collaborates in the design, implementation, education, and support and performance improvement process of clinical information systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Plans and directs all aspects of design, implementation and maintenance of clinical systems to effectively apply technology solutions to improve clinical operations and patient care. Provides leadership for committees and task forces assigned by the CIO. Collaborates with SHS leadership to assure an effective and successful transition to the computerized systems. Participates in software customization as needed to accommodate organizational needs and prevent any disruption in patient care services Assesses need for revision or development of policies and procedures related to clinical systems. Works collaboratively with IS leaders in the development of training materials to educate providers as it relates to clinical information systems. Remains cognizant of security protocols, confidentiality, and access issues in system design, implementation and education of users. Effectively collaborates with health system's clinical leadership in system design, communication of progress of system implementation, system changes, educational needs, and priorities. Assists in the development of budgets as requested. Manages assigned resources in a cost effective manner. Remains cognizant of organizational goals and objectives at all times in the performance of responsibilities. Provides leadership in support of accreditation, program certification and regulatory activities of the organization, including but not limited to JCAHO, CMS, Patient Safety programs and others identified by the health system or the CIO. Assist the CIO in setting strategic direction for information services at Sinai Health System. Foster professional growth and development of department staff and Support a positive workplace environment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required in a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in Information Systems, MHA, or related field preferred.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Ten plus years of Clinical Information Systems leadership experience in a healthcare setting, academic environment a strong plus. RN licensure would be a plus Epic, Cerner, NextGen, Meditech or other advanced clinical system experience highly preferred Experience with Enterprise Imaging, Bio-med devices or clinical engineering is preferred Knowledge of professional nursing theory, clinical practice standards and workflow is required
