Maintaining and developing the Operational Risk Management Framework, acting as a subject matter expert, and providing ongoing direction and consultative advice with respect to Operational Risk best practice within Capital Markets.
Provide oversight to Capital Markets to ensure risk management practices are aligned to Op Risk Management Framework.
Ensuring a clear operational risk appetite for Capital Markets is set by the business, and ongoing monitoring of the operational risk profile against the stated appetite.
Management and Oversight of the 1st line of defences' risk and control self-assessment (Platform-level and business-unit level risk assessments). Review the RCSA results to ensure they provide an accurate view of the Operational Risk exposure.
Review and approval of internal operational risk events. Ensure internal event reporting is complete and appropriate actions are identified.
Review of applicable external events for operational risk lessons learnt. Review of external ORX industry data to identify trends and themes.
Carrying out deep dive investigations to gain assurance on current and emerging issues
Initiatives / Projects - Actively participate in Business Initiative acceptance process and/or perform due diligence as applicable. Participate in project governance committees (NBC, PAR) as required. Ensure that existing and emerging risks for new products, processes and transformational initiatives are identified and the adequately reflected in the business unit risk profile.
Reporting - Review Risk Reporting and improve/develop further where required e.g. Key Risk Indicators. Assist in reporting to Boards and Committees where required including the preparation of meeting materials and topical presentations.
Review the Key Risk Indicators produced by the business. Ensure that appropriate KRI are being used and thresholds are relevant.
Coordinate the completion of Operational Risk scenarios as required by the Scenario Programme.
Operational Risk Capital Management - Facilitate the process for the annual capital management assessment. Gather and prepare documentation and obtain appropriate signoff. Contribute to the analysis of risk and impact on capital requirements where appropriate (e.g. ICAAP). Understand and communicate the methodology and impact for operational capital allocation.
What do you need to succeed?
Strong Capital Markets business knowledge having worked directly in one of these business areas or a functional team supporting one, ideally within a wholesale financial services environment.
Risk Management experience within First or Second lines of defence.
