The Community Education Coordinator position is a non-exempt full-time employee of NAMI Metro-Suburban. (NAMI) The National Alliance on Mental Illness is the largest grassroots provider of mental health education, support and advocacy.
Position Purpose: Assist the Education Manager working in all aspects of planning, scheduling, and evaluating the education offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides Educational Preparation:
Works closely with the Education Program Manager, to execute all Community Wellness Center, School, and Community offerings.
Plans, Attends and Coordinates education courses at the Community Wellness Center.
Delivers NAMI educational presentations for students, teachers, and family members at schools.
Support annual Piecing It Together conference
Helps schedule and attend NAMI's Family Education and Advocacy series
Works closely with Outreach and Volunteer manager to recruit and maintain speaker bureau and volunteers.
Builds and maintains teacher databases and materials.
Oversees the on-line course registrations, attendee confirmations, certificates, CEUs, and evaluations.
Maintains and updates all educational materials.
Orders curriculum & supplies from printer including assembly of binders and curriculum for teachers & participants.
Oversees promotion of any education courses through community meetings, press releases, and flyers.
Supports Programs and Maintains Records:
Coordinates education teacher appreciation social once a year.
Reports monthly and quarterly education statistics to affiliate, NAMI Illinois and NAMI National as required.
Compiles and records data from evaluations from class offerings and other community presentations.
Ability to publicly share the NAMI Metro Suburban’s mission with various audiences.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Education Program Manager.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
The position requires a minimum of Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree is desirable
A work history or lived experience with mental health is desirable.
Skills that would enable one to manage/supervise a group of educators and teachers
Experience with adults and a mix of adolescent/adult mental health experience
Presentation skills required.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
Intermediate level of skills in use of Microsoft office components of Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Demonstrated skills in areas of customer service and team leadership.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
