As a Mentor/Direct Support Professional you will help make a difference in a person’s life! This position entails working one-on-one in the family home with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the individual, but can include assisting with activities of daily living (i.e. cooking, housekeeping, self-care), helping individuals to become more active in the community (i.e. recreational activities, shopping, etc.), and financial assistance (i.e. budgeting money). You will help individuals learn new skills and become more independent.
Hours are part-time, typically evening/weekends. We serve individuals throughout Chicago and suburbs. We are currently hiring for Buffalo Grove, Hanover Park, Deerfield, Northbrook, and Chicago.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities and behavioral strategies. Experience working in child care, elder care, CNA/nursing or social services are also desirable. A high school diploma or equivalent is required as well as the ability to pass criminal background checks. Access to reliable transportation or the ability to travel via public transportation and arrive in a timely manner is essential to this position.
We provide State of Illinois mandated training DSP and First Aid/CPR.
