Gannon University, a Catholic university and member of the NCAA Division II, ECAC and PSAC, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director, Athletics Media Relations. The successful candidate will assist the Director, Athletics Media Relations with the planning and implementation of a proactive, comprehensive communications operation for the University’s NCAA Division II athletics program. The position will also serve as the Director of Athletics Electronic Media and is responsible for all video production that includes but is not limited to the PSAC Network webcasts, highlight packages, coach’s shows, video features, social media video and end-of-the-year highlight packages. Additionally, the position will aid the day-to-day operations of the Sports Information Office, including but not limited to media relations, event management, promoting the athletic department, Web site maintenance, production of publications and other promotional items. Weekend time, as well as holiday time commitments and travel are required.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree is preferred. Prior experience in collegiate or professional sports information is required; experience in media relations or journalism is strongly preferred. Must have a solid understanding of sports and sports statistics; NCAA, PSAC, and Title IX requirements; the ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments; knowledge of editorial and publications processes, systems and procedures; strong written composition and editorial skills; and basic photography and videography skills. Mastery of computer skills in use of Microsoft Office, Web development and maintenance software, Adobe InDesign, Social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), Adobe Photoshop and Statcrew software is strongly preferred. A valid driver’s license with a good driving history is required. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
