University of Maryland, Baltimore is currently seeking a Senior Director of Campaign Giving (Major Gifts Director) for the School of Pharmacy - Dean's Administration. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Development & Alumni Affairs, theSenior Director of Campaign Giving is a new leadership role at the School ofPharmacy to be filled by a key strategist and implementer with proven success ingrowing major donors. S/he will provide strategic direction forincreasing unrestricted, restricted, planned and campaign gifts fromindividuals, and will work as part of a team of development professionals whooversee Corporate & Foundation Donors, Major Gifts, and AlumniRelations.
The Senior Director will play a key role in the strategic leadership ofupcoming development campaigns in partnership with the Associate Dean and Dean.S/he will manage a personal portfolio of individual donors/prospects,supporters who have the capacity to make gifts in the five- and six-figurerange, making it a priority to instill a profound understanding of theimportance of pharmacy education, training, and pharmaceutical research.
This position will work closely with the University of Maryland Baltimoredevelopment officials, UMB Foundation, high-level fundraising volunteers, andthe School's scientific and program leadership to identify, maximize, andcapture donor-giving potential. Inherent in this role is the opportunityto enhance and expand the major new gift program of the School, while preservingthe deeply-rooted traditions which have served it for over 175 years.

Develop and direct a portfolio of prospective major donors (~150) on acontinual basis to establish a deep, mutually beneficial relationship with theSOP and identify, qualify, cultivate, and steward these prospects able to giftawards in the five to six figure range;
Supervise the work of the Director of Leadership Giving, another high-levelposition in the Development Office, manage their workload and assist with theirprofessional development;
Collaborate closely with faculty, deans, and staff.Direct strategic short and long-termcampaigns that have internal and external impact on the School and work withthe Associate Dean on critical issues, projects, development plans, andUniversity strategic goals without close supervision;
Draft a School of Pharmacy Pre-Campaign, Campaign, and Post-Campaign plan;
Work in concert with the UMB Foundation Campaign leaders and consultants,and with a forthcoming SOP Campaign Steering Committee;
Manage the Advance donor database for the SOP ensuring timely visit reportsare inputted following a Moves Management model throughout the life cycle ofthe Campaign and maintain the campaign master calendar to maximize events andkeep SOP team on track;
Coordinate the identification, research, cultivation, solicitation, andstewardship of all Campaign prospects and donors with all other SOP fundraisingefforts and campaigns to avoid duplication;
Organize overall campaign management including pipelines, prospect tracking,strategy, task assignment and maintenance timelines. Execute functional standardsof operations, policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure effective,compliant, and efficient operations;
Manage all publications, reports, presentations, and marketing materialsrelated to the Campaign in coordination with the SOP Office of Communications.
Bachelor's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position; CFREcredential preferred.
A minimum of 7 years of professional development experiencewith an established nonprofit organization in a related field or in highereducation.
At least 3 years in a management or leadership role thatis directly responsible for the performance of development officers and staff.

Strong working knowledge of strategy development andmoves management system in the cultivation and solicitation of five- andsix-figure gifts from individual donors.

Best practice knowledge and skills to successfullymotivate, engage, and interact with senior leadership, Trustees, high-leveldonors and volunteers.
Outstanding ability to discern and respond to patrons'interests to meet both donor and institutional goals.
Proven ability to effectively motivate and manage staffteams, and to build cohesive, collaborative partnerships with peers in afast-paced, complex environment.
Exceptional leadership, planning, and organizationalskills with the ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessaryto implement a mission and strategic vision.
Superior supervisory and project management skillsincluding leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation communicationskills with the ability to support effective partnerships with peers,subordinates, and campus and community leaders.
Hands-on experience with standard development softwareand proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
