Dispatcher Assistant, Full Time 3 weekdays per week M-F , 7:30am – 3:30pm, weekend hours 7am to 3:00pm
Transport patients (on stretchers, wheelchairs or walking) to and from Memorial Hospital, hospital Special Surgery, and New York Hospital. Transport bodies from patient floors to morgue. Assists nursing personnel in the transfer of patients to and from stretchers and beds. Weighs bedridden patients.
Distribute Patient Escort Service/Nursing equipment as needed. Gathers soiled equipment, delivers to proper area for cleansing and collects it redistribution. Maintain Patient Escort Service equipment in good condition (i.e., radio, etc.) and reports mechanical failures or repairs as needed. Follows established sanitary and safety rules of the department and hospital such as frequent had washing, wearing of gloves and radiation safety badge, etc.
Obtains and logs in all service requests. Dispatches 15-30 Patient Escort Service Aides to transport and weigh patients, pick up and deliver specimens and supplies, and transport bodies to the morgue, Monitors and ensures timely completion of assignments.
Review workload throughout the day/evening and ensures adequate staffing. In the absence of supervisor, determines overtime staffing, when needed. Responds to customer issues and makes rounds of floors.
Monitor job performance and availability of patient Escort Service Aides; provide Supervisor with input for employee performance evaluations. Reports employee problems and any unusual occurrences to Supervisor, both verbally and in writing.
Assist in training Patient Escort Service Aides by answering procedural questions, advising routes to use and by demonstration proper use of equipment.
Ensure availability and proper functioning of equipment. Report shortages and repair problems to Supervisor. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area.
Maintain neat and accurate records. Gather quality assurance and statistical data, as required.
Work a schedule consisting of 3 weekdays per week M-F , 7:30am – 3:30pm abd weekend hours 7am to 3:00pm.
High School Diploma / GED
Minimum experience needed: 2 years
Must have intermediate computer skills.
