Our department sources, purchases services, supplies, and equipment which supports education, research and patient care. Our mission is to collectively support the purpose and goals of Vanderbilt University Medical Center by sourcing and purchasing quality products, equipment and services at competitive prices, payment management of vendor invoices, payment cards and travel by providing excellent customer service that meet or exceed the Medical Centerâs requirements, and to perform our services to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Sourcing includes 12 Sourcing Officers, 3 Analysts, 1 Clinical Coordinator. Purchasing includes 14 team members; Disbursements includes 18 members supporting invoice processing, payment, travel and payment cards; Supply Chain Systems team includes 4 members supporting PMM, OptiFlex/POU, eProcurement and PeopleSoft.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Determine compatibility of Service Standards with supply chain financial target utilizing key service dimensions from knowledge of patient/customer expectations and best practices
Develop process for monitoring of performance against the Service Standards utilizing patient/customer satisfaction data, best practices and market information to improve the supply chain delivery system
Design systems to evaluate the utilization of products and supplies designated for patient care. Provide data to support the utilization of products and supply chain systems in support of high quality patient care
Quality and clinical outcomes
Utilize the analytical tools and systems for decision making and utilization accuracy.
Standardize services, processes, resources and practices where appropriate to improve efficiency; maximize continuity of patient care while maintaining professional standards within disciplines and across patient care centers
Maintain readiness for internal and external survey/inspections by assuring that all faculty and staff are knowledgeable of regulatory standards applicable to their supply chain work and ensuring that standards are met within the Patient Care Center to assure Clinical Enterprise accreditation/licensure
Collaborate on key strategic decisions with other patient care centers relative to the supply chain
Negotiate supply chain contracts in collaboration with key customers or under the direction of the Administrative Director of Supply Chain
Coordinate communication with VUMC surgeons, administration, department directors, support staff and other interested parties to discuss and develop solutions to supply chain systems issues in the department
Maintain a safe, clean environment that meets regulatory requirements
Create an inviting patient/customer friendly environment
Model behavior which exhibits ownership and pride in Clinical Enterprise space and environment
Financial Growth and Profitability
Work with the Support Services to develop budgets for resource utilization to support the goals of patient care centers
Assist in the development of equitable incentive structures to fulfill the productivity and financial targets
Assist in developing budgets that optimize the outcomes of clinical programs assuring that external healthcare trends/demands are assessed and creating programs to meet the future market requirements
Assist key customers with planning and development of long and short term supply chain management objectives, supply chain technology, personnel and/or process changes
Assist in financial analysis and needs assessment for all purchases and products to include consideration related to total impact of initiator: i.e., cost per case, impact to net revenue, impact to existing contracts, cost savings/cost avoidance
Utilize creative thinking to develop and implement and maintain state-of-the-art supply chain
Serve as a Project Manager for assigned Medical Economics Outcome Committees
Develop business plans related to clinical cost containment and resource allocation initiatives
Job requires Bachelor's and 5 years of experience or the equivalent
