The Research Assistant will be heading up a project investigating the interaction of RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain with prion-like domain containing RNA binding proteins. The research assistant will be responsible for protein preparation and characterization. This position will work closely with both the PI and all other laboratory members and thus the applicant must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member. They must also be able to initiate and follow-through on projects, troubleshoot technical problems independently, be highly motivated and will to learn new skills.
B.S. in Biology or related field required
1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and adherence to strict deadlines required.
Must be professional, team oriented, personable, and able to deal with diverse personalities and cultures.
Must be highly motivated, able to take direction, work independently, and keep meticulous records.
Experience in bacterial expression and purification of isotope labeled protein for NMR spectroscopy preferred
Knowledge of molecular biology, including PCR, Multiple mutagenesis, and/or cloning preferred
Basic computational analysis and programming knowledge preferred
